'High society hairdresser's secret life as street photographer
|D Train to|
By day Victor Friedman was a high society hairdresser tending to Manhattan's moneyed matrons. But away from the salon patronised by the likes of Jackie Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe, Victor spent his time in New York City's more down-at-heel locales pursuing his passion for photography.
| Man and|
For more than 40 years, until his recent retirement from the coiffure trade, 83-year-old Victor straddled these two disparate worlds giving him a unique insight into the high and the low of New York society, as well as a treasure trove of stories and images of a city that has largely disappeared.'

Most of these are based on the opera Ariadne on Naxos, and show some of the commedia dell'arte characters. I'm very pleased to have sold three on the first night, so will have to get back to the easel immediately!

This wonderful exhibition at the Wellcome Collection is on until the 30th June, and is free.
It's a large exhibition, with an incredible variety of work, and at the end are some really interesting films of the artists at work.

Gingermelon on Etsy, rather than make my own. The very clear instructions made it a pleasure, and it was interesting to use different methods or solutions to your own. Especially when you realise how convoluted and over complicated your own can be!
I didn't have any fox coloured felt so he's Arctic.
